The beauty of be furnished is that we have our own exclusive designs and, what’s more, we can produce designs to your specifications.
A matter of quality
We take quality very seriously. So seriously, in fact, that we have three internal checks during the manufacturing process and a further two carried out by an external company – one random inspection at our factory and a final one before the products are shipped from Indonesia.
From Java, with love
Our furniture is made from 100% teak (tectona grandis) wood, which is harvested from government-regulated and sustainable teak plantations.
Once the teak is delivered to our factory in central Java, we put the ‘raw’ wood into an oven to dry it. This takes the humidity out of the wood and when that’s done – 12 days later – only then do we cut it to make the pieces. It’s then sanded. And shipped. That’s it.
Other companies use the wood as soon as it arrives with excessive moisture to manufacture the furniture, pop the final product is in the oven and dry for as little as two days. The result is a piece of wood that is likely to shift with time. It takes less time – there’s less wood to dry – and, not to be sniffy, but we think it shows.
It’s teak to me!
Wherever a material is required for its all-around durability – and, often, beauty – you’ll find teak. It’s been a big hit with shipbuilders for centuries, and today can be found in millions of backyards – and homes – worldwide. Its natural oils mean it can be left untreated and it’s resistant to mildew, rot, warping and termites. What’s not to love?
